Reviews & Opinions

FRED DELLAR, SMASH HITS, JUNE 11-24, 1981: Bit different this one. I mean, a Newcastle Brown-flavoured rap about an imprisoned Rasta, set against a dub-like backing. Not the sort of thing to set discos alight is it? Did I hear somebody say "Thank goodness for that?? My sentiments exactly. Cheers Mensi, for one you got it right.

PUNKY GIBBON: Jake Burns (Stiff Little Fingers) and Terry Sharpe (Starjets) help out with backing vocals in this 2,000,000 Voices offshoot, a confident reggae strut with its "black nigger, white nigger" censored to become "black ---, white ---". Good stuff.
